Ever since becoming pregnant with Milly I’ve been slowly making major changes to my beauty and skincare routine. Understanding that the skin is the largest organ in your body and can absorb 60-70% of what you put on it was a huge wake up call for me. I started reading the labels of everything I was using and tossing anything that had fragrance, parabens, phthalates and other additives in it. The personal care industry is barely regulated here in the US. In fact they only ban 30 ingredients while the EU bans 1,400! It’s really hard to believe that products you use on yourself and your children might not be safe. And by not safe I mean they can cause cancer, infertility issues, hormone disruption and other harmful effects. Cleaning up your makeup bag and skincare cabinet can start small. What are your two must have beauty products you use or wear everyday? Start there. Swap them out for clean ones and then keep going. My favorite clean makeup line is Beautycounter but there are more and more companies making luxurious high performance makeup without any of the unnecessary junk!
