The Jarred Pasta Sauce Hack That Will Change the Way You Eat Jarred Pasta Forever

Thank you to World Market for sponsoring this post

6D4A5907.jpg

This hack will change the way you eat jarred pasta sauce forever! I’ve always been a huge fan of vodka sauce and creamy sauces but I rarely make them at home cause they take time and I’ve yet to find a jarred sauce that tastes remotely close to true pink sauce. So usually I just get pink sauce pasta when I go out for dinner…until I discovered this amazing hack from transforming any jarred pasta into a luscious dairy free creamy sauce with that perfect balance of a red + white sauce= pink sauce!

6D4A5858.jpg

HERE’S THE HACK:

Blend 1 cup of cashews with a 1/4 cup water in a high powered blender until smooth and then add to your sauce. I used this amazing arrabbiata sauce I picked up from @WorldMarket. It's spicy and flavorful and from their Southern Italy gourmet foods collection. Next, make some homemade pasta with just a few ingredients and boil for 3-4 minutes. You can find my homemade pasta recipe here. If you don't feel like making homemade pasta World Market has an incredible selection of gourmet foods including authentic Italian dry pastas! Once your pasta is done, toss it in your sauce, finish with some lemon zest (a secret ingredient that will also change your life), shaved parmesan cheese and fresh basil and it tastes like the most delicious pink pasta sauce dish ever! You can do this with any jarred sauce and it completely elevates all of the flavors!!! It's like a dairy free pink sauce. It is so good and is the easiest way to serve a really nice meal to unexpected guests in a pinch! You can find the full recipe here and then scroll down for more photos of this delicious arrabbiata pink sauce pasta!!! Don’t forget to head to my instagram for more easy and delicious recipes!

The Easiest Tiramisu Recipe Ever

Thank you to World Market for sponsoring this post

6D4A6015.jpg

This is the easiest tiramisu recipe ever! Transport yourself to Italy with espresso soaked lady fingers covered in whipped cream and mascarpone with shaved chocolate and cocoa. This dessert literally melts in your mouth and is so flavorful and delicious . I found these Italian lady fingers from World Market along with the cocoa, chocolate and Italian espresso. World Market has always been my go to shop for gourmet foods. They have everything from sauces to snacks to specialty treats and I get so much inspiration every time I go there.

6D4A6074.jpg

Next you'll need to grab heavy cream and mascarpone. Some tiramisu recipes add a liquor or Brandy but I feel like it can take away from the flavor of the espresso so I skipped it. Go here for this easy recipe and head to my instagram @BrandiMilloy to watch a video of me making it. This dessert is such a crowd pleaser! It gets better the longer you keep it in the fridge and anytime I serve, there isn't even a morsel left! What's your favorite entertaining dessert? Let me know below.

S'mores Combinations You Need To Try Right Now

Thank you to World Market for sponsoring this post

I live for a good s’mores! To me it’s not just one of those treats that can only be enjoyed once a year when you’re camping or during some special holiday-it is a treat to be enjoyed year round in my opinion. Heck, I’ve roasted a marshmallow in the oven too many times to count just cause I needed that ooey gooey roasted marshmallow flavor and wasn’t going to be fireside anytime soon. What I’ve learned over the years of my s’mores making is that there isn’t one right way to enjoy a s’more. Sure, the classic is absolutely the OG and should be honored as such but with so many different cookie and cracker combinations, gourmet chocolates and even flavored marshmallows available, I decided to come up with the ones that are truly worth trying for yourself. Anytime I need speciality or gourmet foods I head straight to World Market. They have the best range of treats and foods I can never find anywhere else! One of my favorite things is to scour the food and wine aisles looking at all the global flavors and snacks. It’s the best! Let me know what your favorite s’mores is and scroll down for my must try combinations!

S'mores Combinations You Need To Try Right Now

Milka Choco Biscuits + Toffee and Sea Salt Milk Chocolate + roasted marshmallow

This one is double the chocolate, really! I love these Milka biscuits because they feature a delicious butter cookie and milk chocolate. Add the bits of toffee and roasted marshmallow and you are in for a killer combo!

Tate's Butter Crunch Cookie + Chocolove Almonds and Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Bar + roasted marshmallow

If you’ve never had Tate’s before you better run to World Market and grab them. They are buttery and crispy and will even make someone like me that likes-half baked practically raw cookies-drool for some Tate’s! These pair nicely with chocolate’s loaded almond bar with sea salt and a roasted marshmallow of course.

Peanut Butter Cup + Graham Cracker + roasted marshmallow

If you’re a peanut butter lover then you’re going to go nuts over this combo featuring a peanut butter cup, classic graham cracker and roasted marshmallow.

Tim Tam Original Chocolate Cookies + Divine Mint 70% Dark Chocolate Bar + roasted marshmallow

I discovered Tim Tam’s years ago and I’m so glad I did! They’re an Australian cookie that is like nothing we have here in the US. Two biscuits smashed between chocolate cream filling and textures of more chocolate, I topped it with a square of mint chocolate and a roasted marshmallow to create the best mint chocolatey combo.

Milk Chocolate Confetti Candy Bar + Rich Tea Biscuits + roasted marshmallow

These British tea biscuits are the perfect vehicle for carrying a sprinkle filled chocolate bar! I like the simplicity of this one but there’s a ton of crunch and a little fun colorful flare!

Backyard Summer Fun with World Market

Thank you to World Market for sponsoring this post

sunnylife2.jpg

Making memories this summer can be as simple as playing backyard games, cranking your favorite music and having a little water time fun. Being a parent to two little ones helps remind me that sometimes it’s the easiest set ups and most basic things that make a lasting impression on my children’s hearts. It’s like the whole “give them a toy and they’ll play with the box it came in” mentality! A sprinkler, beach ball, rainbow beach towels, a game of paddle ball and some popsicles is the ticket to a magical afternoon in your own backyard. Check out this fun set up below featuring products from World Market plus my tips for backyard fun!

sunnylife1.jpg

Tip 1 Backyard games like corn hole and paddle ball are classics that folks of all ages can enjoy! I love how this inflatable corn hole game is easy to travel with and take to the beach or park. And these paddle balls come in adorable unicorn and dinosaur styles.

sl9.jpg

TIP 2 Music is key for setting the mood! I love creating a fun playlist for each occasion with a mix of tunes from country to old school rock. This travel speaker is adorable for bringing on the go!

sl4.jpg

TIP 3 Creating a DIY popsicle bar is super easy and fun! Just fill a galvanized tub with ice and top with your favorite popsicles and ice cream treats.

sl2.jpg

TIP 4 Don’t stress about not having enough outdoor furniture. Use a few lounge chairs or beach towels for seating.

sl7-2.jpg

Mushroom Shawarma
IMG_2330.JPG

lf you try this recipe you might never go back to traditional shawarma again. This dish is incredibly flavorful, meaty and satisfying! I could not stop eating it! I used two types of mushrooms: King Oyster Mushrooms and Maitake, both from Hokto Kinoko. These both have a firm and meaty texture.

Hokto Kinoko specializes in four types of mushrooms - Maitake (Hen of the Woods), White Beech (BunapiⓇ), Brown Beech (Bunashimeji), King Oyster (Eryngii) and they’ve been around since 1964. Hokto mushrooms are power-packed-filled with Vitamin B, B1, B2, D, Gaba, Ornithine, Folic Acid and Potassium. Such a great alternative to meat but also just so incredibly good for you!

This recipe took about 35 minutes to make and 30 minutes of that was the cook time. I served it with diced cucumber, tomatoes, tzatziki and flatbread. You could also add feta cheese, olives and French fries on the side! My whole family enjoyed it. Now if I could only hack the white sauce at Halal Guys. That would taste SO good on top of these! You can find the recipe below.

Kids' Organization

Thank you to World Market for sponsoring this post

ko1.jpg

With a toddler and baby at home I know exactly how easy it is for all of the toys to takeover. I'm happy to partner with @worldmarket to show you how creating a few designated zones and by putting similar toys together helps to bring structure and organization to your children's play area.

I created a cozy reading nook with this hunter green floor pillow and throw pillows on top. I love mixing different textures and patterns like velvet and cotton with the striped b & w pillow. Plus it compliments the rug we have it this area.

I used these small hyacinth baskets to store Milly & Sonny's blocks, play food and musical instruments. Aesthetically I love the way these look and they also fit perfectly on their shelves. This is a great way to rotate toys every other week. I have these baskets in my linen closet and pantry too. They are so versatile!

This canvas wall organizer is great for storing tiny books for little hands and loveys to hold during reading time. There are so many possibilities with all of the pockets!

We love to read in our home so we have which means we have a ton of books- so I like displaying them a few different ways to breathe fresh life into them! This rattan letter holder is fantastic for featuring a few favorite books at a time. Especially if you are tight on space, a few of these would be phenomenal for creating a tiny library. I also chose to color coordinate our books. For visual thinkers, this can really be a great way to categorize! Also, if there's anything I've learned in parenting, it's less is more.

These large glass containers are amazing for tiny toys like matchbox cars, legos, dinos and cars. I love these so much-they are in my office closet for art supplies too.

I hope these tips help you get a handle on your play spaces in your home! Head to my instagram @BrandiMilloy to see the before a a behind the scenes video of how this came together. Plus make sure you're following me on Like to Know It for links to everything I used. And if you have a great organization hack I'd love to know it, share it with me below.

Easter Candy Board
eb13.jpg

There's something so satisfying about building a food board-whether it's charcuterie and cheese or desserts and candy. For Easter, I thought it would be fun to grab some of my favorite treats from @WorldMarket and build an epic Easter sweets board. It's festive and fun and something the entire family can enjoy leading up to Easter. World Market has so many adorable treats right now including classic Cadbury eggs, candy bunnies and peeps!

Here's how I built this board:

Start with a board or tray (I love the multi-functional use of this acrylic tray)
Add a few dishes to hold smaller treats
Start with your main dessert-(I used the edible grass and jelly bean eggs) and build around it.
Use cookies, candies and other treats to have variety
Have fun! There is no right way to do this!

Post your Easter candy boards on Instagram and tag me @BrandiMilloy

World Market Kids' Furniture

One of my favorite things about the World Market Kids’ Collection is the versatility of the furniture. The Elliot Table, for example is multi-functional, super cute and features tons of storage. The table has four cubbies and the stools double as extra storage. Everything is easily stowed away. As a mom of two active kiddos I want furniture that looks good, lasts and makes it easy for all of us to transition from school to play to snack time.

When it comes to a place you can relax, read, cozy up and cuddle it’s all about this oversized bean bag and canopy. Milly & Sonny each have one of these in their room and it’s their favorite spot. Add a few throw pillows, a basket for books and loveys and find your children spending hours in their little canopy corner. If you’re looking to add a bookshelf or area to neatly display toys and boys the Elliot Book Shelf is chic and great for maximizing small spaces. I have one of these in my office because it looks so good. Using baskets to style the shelves is a great way to hide things you don’t want displayed. Maximus Egg Chair

Thank you to World Market for sponsoring this post

eggchair13.jpg

I wanted this Maximus Egg Chair from @WorldMarket since last year! I wish I hadn't waited so long. This oversized hanging chair makes such a statement and is everything I imagined and more! This stunning piece is so cozy, substantial and the perfect haven for relaxation. The babes love it too. I'll find Milly eating her snacks in there or Sonny will climb up and read a book. It's our family's favorite spot!

I love how substantial it feels with the powder coated metal base and hanging stand-this was something that was really important to me since I don’t want to drill holes in my patio or anything. And the all-weather wicker means it will withstand so many natural elements. If you’ve never had furniture made with this material you know it’s amazing! I had a few chairs from World Market made with this and they still look new after years and years of use outside! I’d love to know if you end up getting this egg chair-I just know it will be the only chair you’ll ever need! Scroll down to see more pics and sources!

Favorite Clean Beauty

Ever since becoming pregnant with Milly I’ve been slowly making major changes to my beauty and skincare routine. Understanding that the skin is the largest organ in your body and can absorb 60-70% of what you put on it was a huge wake up call for me. I started reading the labels of everything I was using and tossing anything that had fragrance, parabens, phthalates and other additives in it. The personal care industry is barely regulated here in the US. In fact they only ban 30 ingredients while the EU bans 1,400! It’s really hard to believe that products you use on yourself and your children might not be safe. And by not safe I mean they can cause cancer, infertility issues, hormone disruption and other harmful effects. Cleaning up your makeup bag and skincare cabinet can start small. What are your two must have beauty products you use or wear everyday? Start there. Swap them out for clean ones and then keep going. My favorite clean makeup line is Beautycounter but there are more and more companies making luxurious high performance makeup without any of the unnecessary junk! Scroll down to see what’s in my makeup bag and then go to my latest post on Instagram to let me know what clean beauty product you love that I need to try!

Pan Seared Halibut with Butter Sauce

Thank you to Sunkist® Citrus for sponsoring this post.

fish7.jpg

This is one of my favorite weeknight meals because it takes minutes to make and features a delicious Sunkist® Cara Cara and Blood Orange butter sauce. We eat a ton of fish in our house so I usually buy my seafood in bulk in the frozen section individually wrapped so I can just take out a couple filets in the morning to thaw. Then when I’m preparing dinner I toss whatever veggies I have on hand in the oven to roast and pan sear my fish, make my butter sauce and that’s it! The Sunkist® Cara Cara and Blood Orange are such flavorful pairings with the halibut but if you don’t have it on hand you could also swap in Mahi Mahi! Southwest Croissant Casserole Bake
tempImagepLiS2L.jpg

This is about to be your go to brunch using leftover croissants and last night’s veggies or the ones you have no idea what to do with in the fridge and transforms them into a cheesy, fluffy, breakfast bake! I used Impossible Foods instead of sausage or ham & some Hokto Kinoko mushrooms and serve with Truffle sauce and it is our family’s new favorite!!! Watch watch my latest IGTV Video on Instagram to see how it’s made and then grab the recipe below to make it yourself!

Southwest Croissant Casserole Bake

by Brandi Milloy

Ingredients

  • 12 baked small croissants (or 1 pack plus 1/2 pack of Crescent dough croissants)

  • 6 eggs

  • 1/2 cup half and half

  • 2 cups shredded cheese (white cheddar is great for this)

  • 1 tbsp. butter

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced

  • 1/2 bell pepper, diced

  • 1 small sweet potato, diced

  • 1/2 lb meat of your choice (I used Impossible meat but you could use ground beef, ground turkey or sausage)

  • 1/2 tablespoon taco seasoning

  • 1 cup spinach

  • For garnish: salsa, hot sauce, sour cream, fresh cilantro.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F. Slice croissants into quarters. Into a bowl, scramble eggs and half and half until fluffy. Add croissants and 1.5 cups of cheese and mix. Set aside.

  2. Heat a non-stick skillet on medium high heat. Add butter, mushrooms, peppers and sweet potato. Cook for 5 minutes or until they start to soften. Cover with lid to help cook potato. Add meat and seasoning and cook until cooked through. Drain fat if needed. Add spinach and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Let meat cool slightly before adding to croissant egg mixture. Toss well and then add to a 8x8 baking dish. Top with remaining cheese and bake covered for 25 minutes. Remove lid and bake an additional 10-15 minutes or until eggs are cooked through. Let cool and set up for 5-7 minutes before serving. Enjoy with salsa, hot sauce and some sour cream and fresh cilantro.

These tater tot nachos are a touchdown every time I make them! If not serving immediately I like to put the crema, sour cream, salsa and hot sauce on the side to let folks do their thang! Tater Tot Nachos

by Brandi Milloy

  • 1 bag tater tots

  • 1/2 lb of cooked meat seasoned with taco seasoning or salt & pepper (ground Impossible meat, ground beef, shredded carnitas, rotisserie chicken-there’s so much we could do here!)

  • 1 cup Mexican style shredded queso cheese (you could also use a shredded cheese blend)

  • 1 cup tomatoes, chopped

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 tsp. taco seasoning

  • 1/2 lime

  • your favorite salsa

  • hot sauce

  • fresh cilantro, for garnish

Directions

  1. Bake tater tots according to package, usually at 375F for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. TIP: Put them in the oven cold so they can slowly warm up as the oven is preheating. Remove from oven and top with meat and cheese. Place back in oven and turn heat up to 425F and bake until cheese melts, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, make your fresh crema sauce by mixing the sour cream with the taco seasoning and juice of 1/2 a lime. Add the zest of the lime for more flavor.

  3. Remove tater tots from oven and top with tomatoes, crema, salsa and fresh cilantro and enjoy!!!
